Your passport for the international business world
Do you like to push things to the limit? Do you want to work abroad or for an international company? With this English language course you can do all this and more. You will enjoy a wide ranging commercial course and will be expected to tackle international business problems.
The programme combines the teaching materials for the course IBS Assistent-manager internationale handel (IBS Assistant Manager International Business (bilingual) and (Junior) Accountmanager ((Junior) Account Manager). You first follow a work placement with an internationally oriented company in the Netherlands and later abroad.
You will eventually be the link between the customer and the organisation for whom you work. At school you will learn how to analyse customer, product and market information, so that you can make your customer attractive sales propositions. You will also learn about import and export and how to draw up an export/marketing plan.International communication and cooperation is an art in itself. Based on realistic industry assignments you will be introduced to the finer points of the international business world.
With your certificate for this programme you can continue on to follow various university of applied science courses in English. You can also go to work for an international company’s commercial department.
The programme comprises 'blocks' or projects. A realistic problem is solved in each block. You learn how to do this during the lessons. Guest lecturers from industry will also teach you and you will be working with e-learning.
Soft skillsThe development of so-called 'soft skills' plays an important role in this course. Good examples of these are:
- ethics in the area of study and work;
- communication and collaboration in an international context;
- ICT skills;
- personal development;
- specific professional skills (for example problem-solving thinking).

The programme offers one or more electives. These electives allow you to broaden or deepen your craftsmanship or prepare you to move on to a higher level. Each elective has an exam. The contents of the elective modules are determined by the school in consultation with the work field. The modules are currently under development and the offer may still change.
To be accepted for this course you need:
- pre-vocational secondary education certificate practical or theoretical programme or;
- bilingual secondary education certificate.
The course is also suitable for foreign students (whether or not currently living in the Netherlands) with a comparable level of education.In order to follow this course successfully, a good command of the English language is necessary.
