International opportunities
Do you wish to work abroad or for an international company? This English-taught programme prepares you for a wide variety of opportunities. The programme is entirely in English, including an internship at an internationally oriented company in the Netherlands, and abroad at a later stage.
Realistic company assignments
You will be working on assignments from (international) companies, combined with teaching material from disciplines such as mechatronics, mechanical engineering and product development. The focus is on technical and methodical design.
More than just engineering
Besides gaining broad knowledge in the field of engineering, you will also be stimulated to develop general skills: everything you need to be well prepared to conquer the international labour market. In addition, you are optimally prepared for further training at higher vocational education (hbo).
Questions
As a technical engineer you will do a variety of work. You solve engineering problems in several technical surroundings. You have a broad knowledge and skills to be successful at your work. Your main tasks will be: problem analysis, research, solving technical problems, prototyping, testing and improving, professional communication.
Possible further education
After graduation, you can move on to various English-taught higher vocational education courses (hbo)
One of the required subjects in this programme is Dutch. In order to obtain your diploma, you have to pass the exams Dutch (required level is 3F, this is a requirement by Dutch law).
If you do not have any knowledge of Dutch, this can be very challenging. Therefore we advise you to speak to one of our teachers about this before you register as a student.
The statutory tuition fees for the school year 2024-2025 are €1,419. Check DUO.nl for possible study grants.
Books, software licenses and work material package
An overview of the total costs for the coming school year can be found centrally at mbowebshop.nl no later than July 1st each year. Summa College determines the specifications, but you can choose where you buy the educational materials.
Important note: This course is completely developed by teachers and experts. Therefore, we do not have a standard list of study books. Instead the teachers are able to ask each student to buy supportive content or software licenses, which will be used for the projects, up to an amount of €500.- euros per student.
Laptop
This course requires students to have a laptop at their disposal. Please make sure your laptop has the correct specifications, which you can download here.
Additional activities and facilities
In addition to the costs for the equipment and materials, additional activities and facilities may be offered, such as company visits and excursions in the Netherlands and abroad. These activities and facilities have an added value, but are voluntary and not necessary for following the course and obtaining a diploma. These additional activities and facilities will be announced on this page as soon as possible. The indication of 1st yearly costs for this is € 500.-
To be accepted for this course you need:
- pre-vocational secondary education certificate theoretical course or;
- bilingual secondary education certificate.
Additional pre-education demands: Math and science are highly recommended.

- Get to know the MBO. What levels and learning paths are there ?
- Demonstrations or activities are organized at a number of courses.
- Sometimes even the business community is present. Maybe you will get to know your future internship!

- Time: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m
- Location: Summa College has 23 buildings. These are almost all open during the open day. Check carefully on this map where the study course you want to visit organizes its open day.
- It is possible to visit several courses during the open day. Visiting multiple buildings is of course also possible! Then take a good look at the travel time, take into account crowds in the city and plan your day carefully.
