Complaints Procedures
What can you do when you have a complaint? Summa College has several complaints procedures in place. We will inform you below which type of complaint can be submitted to whom.
Submitting a complaint

Complaints form
You can use the
complaints form to submit a formal complaint, present an objection, or file an appeal against a decision.
In case you need advice on choosing the right procedure, or if you need help to fill out the complaints form, you can contact:

All complaints will be handled confidentially. Submitting a complaint will never affect the supervision or assessment of your study.
Types of Complaints
Every day, Summa College does its utmost to give you the opportunity to get the most out of yourself. There is, however, always a possibility that you are dissatisfied with something concerning school. Since we want to improve our services, we want you to inform us whenever there is something you are not satisfied with.
Summa College has several complaints procedures in place:
Complaints about undesirable behavior
To report complaints concerning social safety, (sexual) harassment, discrimination, aggression and violence, you can contact your school’s
confidential counsellor. He can help you and, if needed, refer you.
Complaints about serious wrongdoing
The so-called whistleblowing scheme allows you to report suspected wrongdoing within Summa College in a protected manner.
The regulation is meant for social situations in which the environment, safety or health of people and/or organizations are endangered. This regulation also enables you to report cases of criminal offence, violation of the law or unethical behavior.

Complaints about binding study advice
Halfway through their school year, every student receives a binding study advice. If you do not agree with your binding study advice, you can file an appeal to the external Examination Appeals Board within two weeks, using the form on the left side of this page. Following a hearing, this Board will issue its decision within 20 working days.

Complaints about exams
If you do not agree with a decision from the Examination Board, you can present an objection to the Examination Board within ten school days, using the form on the left side of this page. The Examination Board will issue a decision on the objection within 10 school days. If you disagree with this decision, you can file an appeal to the external Examination Appeals Board within ten school days, using the form on the left side of this page. Following a hearing, the Examination Appeals Board will issue its decision within 20 working days.

Other complaints
We find it important that you first talk to the person within Summa College who is directly involved in the situation in question. If you cannot work it out together, you can file your report to the director of your school, using the form on the left side of this page. He will deal with your report within 10 school days.
In case you are not satisfied with the handling of your report, you can submit a formal complaint to the Complaints Committee, using the form on the left side of this page. The Complaints Committee will deal with your complaint within 14 weeks.
